High-speed pick-up robot
Why is a robot weighing several hundred kilograms needed to pick up a molded piece weighing only a few grams?
To answer this question, Yushin sought a robot for specific applications through its Optimum Design approach. Design optimization is what Yushin calls the use of CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) to determine the theoretically best configuration of a robot based on its mechanisms and movements, rather than relying solely on the designer's experience. This approach has been used in recent years to make airplanes and cars lighter and more reliable. Interestingly, we have often been surprised by how much optimized designs resemble trees and animals in the natural world. Designed to offer speeds and safety that were previously unattainable, we are confident that the HSA series will mark the beginning of a new era in pick-up robots.
The HSA incorporates design optimization for increased speed and rigidity with less weight. With extraction times of up to 0.32 seconds tested during live molding, the HSA is 13% lighter and 11% faster than previous models (measures are relative to the comparable previous model).
